MEET JANE

       Jane is a Holistic Therapist, currently residing on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples. She believes within every person lies a treasure chest full of wisdom and beauty waiting to be discovered, and with this awareness, we as individuals carry the power to set ourselves free.  

     

       Jane has worked with all walks of life and takes a gentle, intuitive approach, supporting those who are on the journey to healing their childhood trauma while cultivating a healthy self esteem, and strong sense of independence. Her mission is to guide others towards a space of openness, compassion and self acceptance, so they may move forward with confidence and a deep sense of peace.

Studies show that living with unresolved trauma can have profound and lasting effects on an individual's physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. These effects can manifest in various ways, depending on the nature of the trauma, its severity, and the support systems available.

Some long-term effects of unresolved trauma may include:

  • Mental Health Issues: Childhood trauma increases the risk of developing mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and dissociative disorders.

  • Emotional Dysregulation: Trauma can lead to difficulties in regulating emotions, resulting in intense mood swings, emotional numbness, or hypersensitivity.

  • Low Self-Esteem: Trauma can contribute to feelings of worthlessness, self-blame, and a negative self-image, affecting self-esteem and self-confidence.

  • Attachment Issues: Trauma can disrupt healthy attachment patterns, leading to difficulties forming and maintaining healthy relationships due to trust and intimacy issues.

  • Self-Destructive Behaviors: Individuals who experienced childhood trauma may engage in self-destructive behaviors such as substance abuse, self-harm, or risky sexual behavior as coping mechanisms.

  • Hyperarousal and Hypervigilance: Trauma can lead to a state of constant alertness and hypervigilance, where individuals are always on edge, anticipating potential threats.

  • Avoidance: People who have experienced trauma might avoid reminders of the traumatic event, which can interfere with their daily life and prevent proper processing of the trauma.

  • Cognitive Distortions: Trauma can lead to distorted thinking patterns, negative self-talk, and irrational beliefs about the world and oneself.
